Ma Dukes Announced New Dilla Project: The Rebirth Of Detroit

Mrs. Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancy–mother to the legendary producer, who was born James DeWitt Yancy–has just announced the upcoming release of an album called the Rebirth of Detroit project, which will feature a selection of Detroit artists that Dilla knew and collaborated with in his lifetime, all performing over his productions. To be clear, those would apparently be unreleased Dilla productions, as Mrs. Yancy was at pains to point out that this was not a retrospective and that only new compositions would do justice to the rebirth concept.
